Prof. Manik Pradhan is the Group Leader and Project Supervisor of the Laser Spectroscopy and Chemical Physics Laboratory. Currently he is leading many multi-disciplinary research projects as a Principal Investigator (PI) as well as a Co-Investigator. His research group at present focuses on the cutting-edge research in interdisciplinary areas involving laser spectroscopy, molecular physcis, biomedical and, environmental sciences along with developments of new-generation mass-spectrometry and optical cavity-based laser spectroscopy techniques. Dr. Pradhan has published more than 80 research articles in international peer-reviewed journals and has several patents in his name. Prof. Pradhan is one of the Principal Activity Leaders of the Project in "Technical Research Centre (TRC)" at S. N. Bose Institute.
PhD Student (Junior Research Fellow)
Ardhendu has joined in our research group in 2019 as S.N.Bose Centre funded Research Fellow. He has received his M.Sc in Physics from Calcultta University in 2018. He has also qualified many national level exams like NET (2017) and GATE (2018). He is working on the development of quantum cascade laser absorption spectrosopy (QCLAS) with multipass cell for studying long-chain molecules in the gas-phase.
PhD Student (Junior Research Fellow)
Dinesh has received his B.Sc. & M.Sc. in Physics from the University of Burdwan. He has joined our research group in 2023 as a SNB-JRF for continuing his PhD. He has also qualified CSIR-NET (2022) and GATE (2023) in Physics. He is working on the optical beam shifts, spin Hall effect of light and geometric phase using Quantum Weak Measurements (QWM) technique.
PhD Student (Junior Research Fellow)
Anuradha obtained her B.Sc and M.Sc in Physics from University of Calcutta. She has joined in the group in 2023 as a SNB-JRF for her PhD study. She has qualified GATE (2021) in Physics. She is working on spin-orbit interaction of light, polarization optics, geometric phase, photonic spin Hall effect of light and quantum weak measurements.

Soumen has completed his MSc in Physics from S.N.Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences and subsequently joined in our laboratory in 2020 as an IPhD student. He has qualified many exams such as JEST (2018) and JAM (2018). Soumen is working on the optical beam shifts via quantum weak measurements (QWM) and photonic spin Hall effect.
PhD Student (Junior Research Fellow)
Soumyadipta received his BSc in Physics from Jaipuria College under Calcutta University in 2018 and M.Sc (Physics) in 2020 from the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur. He joined as a PhD student in our research group in 2021. Soumyadipta has qualified in JEST (2021), JAM (2018) and GATE (2021). He is working on the high-resolution cavity-enhanced absorption spectroscopy in gas-phase. He is also working on wavelength modulation spectroscopy (WMS) coupled with mid-IR quantum cascade laser (QCL) and multipass cell.
PhD Student (Junior Research Fellow)
Indrayani completed her BSc in Physics from Jaipuria College under the University of Calcutta in 2018 and MSc in Physics from Rajabazar Science College (University of Calcutta) in 2020. Indyayani has qualified several national levels exams like CSIR-UGC NET (2021), JEST (2022), GATE (2022) and JAM (2018). She has joined in the group in 2022 and has stared to work in the gas-phase cavity ring-down spectroscopy (CRDS) and high-resolution fundamental molecular spectroscopy.
National Postdoctoral Fellow
Dr. Banerjee is working as a National Postdoctoral Research Fellow (NPDF) in the group. She obtained her PhD(Tech) on plasmonics from the Department of Optics and Photonics under the University of Calcutta in 2021. In our group, Dr. Banerjee is working on surface plasmon resonance, Nano-phoptonics and evanescent-wave cavity ring-down spectroscopy.
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Dr. Barik has received his PhD in Physics from Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan in 2013 and has joined as a Postdoc in the group in 2022. He has also worked as D.S. Kothari Postdoctoral Fellow (2016-2019) at IISC Bangalore and also at Instituto de Ciencias Fisicas, Mexico for his potdoctoral work (2014-2016). He is currently working on EW-CRDS, Nanocomposites and Photonic-Plasmonic structures.
Project Scientist C
Dr. Pal has received his PhD in Physics from University of Calcutta in 2018 and has joined as a Project Scientist C in "Technical Research Centre (TRC)" at SNBNCBS in 2020. He has also worked as a Research Associate (2017-2019) on a DAE-BRNS funded project at Shiv Nadar University, India. He is currently working on Raman Spectroscopy, Gas sensing and Biomedical Diagnostics.

Sayoni received her MSc (Physics) in 2015 from Calcutta University and joined as a Project student in "Technical Research Centre (TRC)" at SNBNCBS in 2017. She is currently working on the development of non-invasive diagnostics and H. pylori infection.
Postdoctoral Research Associate
Dr. Maiti received his PhD (Physics) in 2017 from Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Kolkata and joined as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the group in 2019. He has also worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at University of Notre Dame, USA (2018-2019). He is currently working on the synthesis of metallic nanoparticles and their applications in gas sensing.
Postdoctoral Research Associate
Dr. Bera received his PhD (Physics) in 2018 from National Institute of Technology, Agartala, Tripura and joined as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the group 2019. Dr. Bera is currently working on synthesis and development of several heterostructured materials for gas-sening applications revelant to environmental and biomedical diagnostics.
Project Assistant
Debatri received her MSc (Microbiology) in 2014 from Calcutta University and joined as a Project Assistant in "Technical Research Centre (TRC)" at SNBNCBS in 2020. She has also worked on several protein genes with Leprosy patient at IPGMER. She is currently working on the fundamental understanding of the pathogenesis of diabetes and H.pylori infection.
Abhijit was a PhD student in our group from 2012-2018. He is currently working as a Scientist-C in the group under the Technical Research Centre (TRC) project.
He was a PhD student in our group from 2012-2018. Chiranjit is presently working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Harvard University, USA after completing his first postdoc (2018-2019) from University of Waterloo, Canada.
Gourab joined as a PhD student in the group in 2012. He is presently working as a Postdoctal Fellow at the Institute of Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, Ulm University, Germany.
